One of the women pro's in the Houston area who has unbelievable bike splits has been a spin instructor at a YMCA for years. I trained for my first IM in 06 by doing 3 one hour spin classes and one long bike ride per week. I do a 45 minute class that leaves a puddle of sweat that migrates accross the room and a heart rate that can be scary. On a side note being AA for 5 years in triathlon I can't imagine anyone questioning the value of a spin class. Since I am new I have several things they are not necessarily accustom to so that is good but I would love to have some fresh ideas to generate ethusiasm. It seems very important to keep the music fresh as well as new routines. (Hands on bars, no one legged routines ect) Since I am just starting up again as an instructor I am wanting to get ideas of what is your favorite or hardest routine (drill or segment) in a spin class. I teach at a new club that has a stricter policy on what we can and can't do. I am a triathlete who has taught spin classes on and off for last 6 years.
